The lust list

17 Oct

This is a bit of a random post, a sort of moodboard/brain dump of things that have caught my eye during my online travels. And you know I’m online quite a bit!

Topshop barley thigh leather boots – £120

Thigh-high leather boots won’t be everybody’s bag and you will have to tread the thin line between classy and trashy very, very carefully. I’ve wanted some nice OTK boots since I spied Stella MacCartney’s (non-leather) version about ooh 6/7 years ago? I would pair them with soft, fluffy knits for a bit of a contrast in textures.

Rare one shoulder rose dress – £29 (bargain!)

We’re hurtling towards that time of year again, Christmas party season. You can never have too many dresses and though the LBD is a fail-safe classic, I don’t actually like wearing black dresses. Why blend in with the crowd when you can stand out?! This LRD (little red dress) is sure to get you noticed for the right reasons, I love the sexy one shoulder detail too.

Asos black laser cut skirt – £95

Maxi skirts can look a bit minimalist, very sleek. That’s what I like about them, I tend be quite body-con/tailored but I absolutely love the volume of this maxi skirt. The laser cut fabric will create such beautiful movement too.

River Island fur trapper hat – £19

I’m sure not everyone will agree with me here but I love these adorable novelty hats. I wanted one of the bear beanies but this trapper is just so cute! I’m aware that I’ll look like a 5 year old but I’m hoping I can pull it off in a nonchalant, ironic way.

Balenciaga perfume and purse spray

I’m a big Balenciaga fan and I’m dying to smell this. Nicolas Ghesquiere has wanted to create a fragrance for the Paris fashion house since he joined. The perfume has been described as light and floral with violet notes, both modern and classic at the same time. Balenciaga has also produced a gorgeous black and white purse spray so you can take the fragrance with you.

Tabio crossover sockettes – £20

I first spied these on Kit during LFW and I was so intrigued. Initially, the look more like a spring/summer sort of sock but I think they’re just crying out to be layered over longer socks. If like me you have a serious hosiery addiction, make sure you check Tabio out.

Dresses out, trousers in

11 Aug
I think it’s time to pack away the skirts and dresses and get the trousers out. For once, this is not due to the weather. It’s due to boredom. I remember when dresses first hit the mainstream, they automatically turned into a no brainer, super easy peasy outfit choice. No more thinking about top AND bottom, it was revolutionary. But now, a few seasons on I’m starting to get a little bored of them. Skirts are also getting a bit yawnsome too. Every second people I pass on the street is wearing a maxi dress or floral skirt.
I’ve been turning to trousers more and more these days, I pretty much live in my Topshop military harems. They’re perfect for dressing down with a slouchy oversize cardi for work as well as dressing up with lace top and killer heels for a night out. Here are my top picks to tempt you into trousers:

New Look zip harems – £25. These babys will take you from work to a bar in a jiffy. Chuck on some heels, add some accessories and you’ll be good to go. They’ll also be perfect for the military trend this Autumn.

Warehouse paperbag waist harems – £45. These exude grown up glamour. I would team with pale colours and carry nudes into Autumn. The tie waist is begging to be tied into a pretty bow.

Pa:nuu slouch velvet track pants – £45. Velvet and texture will be huge next season so get in early with these bad boys. They look mega comfy but can easily be dressed up as they’re velvet.

J Brand Houlihan cargo pants – £245. I love the high waist and roll up. Like the New Look harems, these will be absolutely perfect for the military look, as well as a few embellishments.

McQ by Alexander McQueen digital print harems – £110. Utterly stunning! Printed trousers aren’t to everyone’s taste but if you’re brave enough they will look gorgeous on.

Top Five: High-street Summertime Treats

27 May

The brief but beautiful sunshine and soaring temperatures were long overdue and thoroughly enjoyed. I made some hasty last minute plans and flung open my wardrobe doors eagerly, only to be confused. Was anyone else really caught off-guard?! I felt like every single item of clothing I laid my eyes upon was too thick, too dark or just generally unsuitable for such warm weather. I even had difficulty deciding which shoes to wear!

New Look ruffle top maxi dress – £25

I absolutely love bright colours in Summer and maxi dresses are a cool, breezy way to deal with the heat.

Topshop elastic tie back tee – £25

Light colours and good quality, silky cotton are your friend when trying to keep cool. This tee has an open back which looks gorgeous on.

ASOS Freddy leather knot front sandal – £22

I’m afraid to say, I’m one of those girls who pretty much abandons the heels once the temperature gets over 30C. Nothing could be easier than slipping on these zip back gladiators. They don’t have a toe post so no potential blisters or sores when wearing them in either.

Miss Selfridge spot floral dress – £32

Florals are a no-brainer during Summer and for lazy buggers like myself, throwing a pretty dress on is such an easy option.

Warehouse utility pocketed shorts – £35

These gorgeous shorts will be a godsend over Summer, as they are both versatile and practical. I do love denim shorts but sometimes it’s just too hot for even the thinnest denim.
