Shop the Selfridges Christmas sale

27 Dec

It seems London was a scary place to be yesterday, scenes of pandemonium at both Westfields and a stabbing at Oxford Circus hit the headlines as well as the crazy reductions. People had been queuing for hours outside Selfridges and over 200 security guards and police had to keep the peace; we all love a designer bargain but it may just be safer to order from home! I love Selfridges, it’s been my favourite department store for years and though the inclusion of high street brands is a bit controversial I’m coming around to finding (carefully selected) high street pieces alongside designer beauties. I know the KG shoes won’t be to everyone’s taste but they are calling my name…

Wednesday Wish List: Selfridges White Christmas

30 Nov

Last week, I spied the Selfridges Christmas windows and while I wasn’t overwhelmed, I was certainly inspired. There is just something about crisp, clean white at Christmas, it’s almost iconic. All of these pieces look super pristine and are exclusive to Selfridges – I didn’t know they had such a large range of exclusive products until recently. The likes of Vivienne Westwood, Michael Kors, Toywatch, Ralph Lauren and McQueen all do exclusive pieces so it’s well worth checking out if you’re after something a little special. Are you inspired by winter white this season?

Selfridges Winter White Christmas Windows

24 Nov

On Sunday, I strolled past Selfridges and the corner window caught my eye – it was snowing! The snow machine was incredible, totally mesmerising. My picture really doesn’t do it justice, you really must see it for yourself and also wind up the musical wind up window, which really worked much to my surprise.

The theme for this year is winter white; not only are the windows white, every product is a crisp, pristine shade of ivory white. The Roksanda Illincic dress was my favourite piece and the paper bells were my favourite window adornment. To be honest, it wasn’t my favourite window Christmas window at Selfridges but it still bought a smile to my face. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….

Chopard Temptations collection in Selfridges Wonder room

24 Aug
Welcome to a world of cupcakes, tea parties and the most luxurious, twinkling haute joaillerie collection. Luxury Swiss watch and jewellery maker Chopard has taken up residence in Selfridges’ Wonder Room to showcase their beautiful collection – temptations. Inspired by the tea party theme of Elton John’s White Tie & Tiara ball, the collection includes some really stunning pieces which have never been seen before in the UK. Using the rarest precious stones such as white, brown and orange diamonds, Chopard  has created fantastical animal-inspired pieces which really challenge traditional perceptions of jewellery. I spied my favourite piece among duck rings, beaver earrings and panda pendants: a gecko bracelet set in 259 white diamonds, 139 brown diamonds and 18 orange diamonds. The images really don’t do the collection justice so pop down to the Wonder Room in Selfridges before 31st August to catch a glimpse of this super luxe collection before it’s gone.

Win a year’s supply of shoes with Selfridges Shoe Galleries!

17 Aug

If you haven’t heard about Selfridges shoe galleries, you must be living under a fashion rock. Set to be the biggest shoe destination in the world with a whopping 4,000 pairs of shoes on display and 55,000 in stock, you are sure to find your perfect pair whether it’s highstreet or couture.
“Imagine you are in a gallery”, says Selfridges’ Director of Accessories Sebastian Manes. “From the entrance you see a succession of doorways, and at the end a huge window flooding the space with daylight. Your journey begins at the front, with shoes from the best of the high street. Slowly you begin to travel through different galleries until you reach the end – the couture designer gallery, flanked by Chanel and Louboutin, and a vision of Eden – the new suspended garden at Selfridges. Shoe heaven!”
Sounds like heaven! To celebrate, Selfridges are running a competition to win a pair of shoes every week and one very lucky winner will win a year’s supply of shoes! To enter, simply pop over to the Shoe Galleries competition page and share your shoe story. Everyone has a shoe story, be it your first expensive pair, a pair you wear to death or a pair that you’ve been lusting after forever.
Good luck!

Summer? Winter?

12 Jul

Looking out of the window, it’s very hard to convince myself that it’s summer. All I can see are grey clouds, puddles and rain. It seems the fashion world is takin its cue from the weather and skipping summer altogether. The summer sale has already come and gone, now Selfridges has launched it’s Autumn/Winter 08 window displays. According to Vogue, it’s taking a futuristic direction – fluorescent shades, cubist shapes and pixelated prints. Selfridges always wins the battle of the shop windows in my eyes, so I’ll be checking it out when I’m in London next week, I’ll be sure to take plenty of pictures!
