Desa Pony in Layers

My handbag habit is getting pretty serious these days. Apart for the Alexander Wang, they’re all pretty subtle though, aside from the soft leather and a few hardware details they look pretty ordinary and under the radar, exactly how handbags should look I think. Which is why I adore the bags by luxury brand Desa. This ruffled leather beauty is £435 and available at their stores in St Martin’s Courtyard in Covent Garden and Hamstead high street or online
Mellow Yellow Jenvy

I had my eye on these colourful Jenvy platforms a while ago and I’m finding it really hard to resist them, especially now that they have a massive 60% off in the Sarenza sale. I already have a pair of crazy high Mellow Yellow platforms and can attest to their comfort, I even wore them to drive in! These babies are just £60.40 in the sale from £151, get them while you can.

Medwinds Marsella tote

Back in February, I fell in lust with the Marsella tote when I went to the Medwinds showroom in Barcelona. The leather was unbelievably soft and the size was absolutely perfect for carrying a laptop or iPad. When I saw it again at the UK press launch, it was incredibly difficult to leave without casually slinging the sample over my shoulder and pretending it was mine! The tote is available on the website for £109.

Rare pleated chiffon midi skirt

I’ve been enamoured with midi length pleated chiffon skirts since I first clapped eyes on the elusive Whistles Carrie skirt. This version from Rare hasn’t caused a stampeed just yet, but it’s sassy on the knee length and deep purple colour make it a great buy for colour blocking this season and pairing with warmer, Autumnal tones next season. Best of all, it’s just £35 and available on the Rare website

Bitching & Junkfood Remade bitchy stud shorts.

These Bitching & Junkfood Remade shorts are all sorts of rad in one teeny pair of reworked vintage shorts. They took a pair of high-waisted Levis 501s, distressed them by hand for custom rips and shredded and added some killer spike studs down the side. Available at Bitching & Junkfood for £75.

Aqua Fleetwood maxi dress

Aqua are one of my newest favourite labels, their structural and futuristic designs feature strong lines and striking silhouettes. This maxi dress is a little different from their usual slashed and cut out dresses, but I adore the structured shoulders and bold print which is a little Christopher Kane. Available at Asos for £140.

Rare Fashion Autumn/Winter 2011 campaign

8 Jun

Hot on the heels of my previous post about Rare Fashion‘s sumptuous Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, here are my favourite images for their upcoming campaign. Rare has come such a long way from the early days and their collaboration with The Saturdays. The images, like the collection, are grown up, sophisticated, glamorous and girly. Of course the dresses are a highlight but the pretty, feminine day-wear is definitely worth a look too, particularly the blouses.

Rare press day AW11

29 May

A couple of weeks ago, I popped over to Soho to have a preview of Rare‘s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection. Regular readers will know that I adore Rare for their comfy, easy to wear casuals as well as the head-turning dresses in the  Opulence range. The brand is really developing their signature: florals, prints, pleating and texture. I was glad to see the Autumn/Winter collection steers clear of depressing dark colours and injects some fun, colour and pretty, pretty prints to brighten up the darker months. Pleating, plaiting and embellishment are the pretty cherry on top of a beautifully girly cake.
The collection

The details

Thanks to OPI and Lash Out lashes for the pampering and Think Publicity for being lovely, warm and welcoming as usual.

Rare press day SS11

11 Feb

The main collection by Rare is so cute and girly with so, so much to covet. I loved the gorgeous floral prints, the pleating details and the cute nautical inspired pieces. The collection was heavily influenced by the 60s, with cute pleated minis, bell sleeve tunics, broderie anglais, florals, flowing chiffon and super cute peter pan collars. The flirty, romantic colours and fabrics were so light and perfect for summer.

The Opulence range is one of my favourites, I’ve got so many dresses from past collections and love the little signatures that run through each collection, especially the gorgeous Grecian draping, embellishment, ruffled textures and beautiful silhouettes.

Everyone at Rare was so lovely, especially Deepa who showed me around everything, talked me through her favourite pieces and also held out about a billion items for me to photograph. Thank you!

New Year’s Eve night out

28 Dec

There’s only one reason to start weaning yourself off the Christmas binge:New Year’s Eve. For most of London, this is the huge finale of the party season, the last hurrah before January detox and exercise begins. So of course, you need to spend most of New Year’s Eve pampering and prepping for the night’s festivities as well as a gorgeous little dress to shimmy into. Here are my top four dresses, perfect for whatever you might have planned, whether it’s partying the night away, sinking shots at the bar or a nice, civilised dinner.

Oasis rose corsage one shoulder dress – £40 on sale
Topshop Gala bow detail peep toe shoe boots – £60

Rare Opulence asymmetric bustle dress – £95

Rare Opulence AW 2010

1 Dec

I was emailed the press release and images for the Rare Opulence Autumn/Winter 2010 collection ages ago, I’ve been sitting on this little gem for quite a while. Why am I sharing it now? Those three little words – Christmas party season. Pretty much all females are looking for THE dress, not just a dress. The dress to set them apart, make them feel utterly gorgeous and definitely not the same dress as Caroline in accounts!
Opulence is the high end, high fashion range from Rare, who I absolutely adore. The Autumn/Winter collection has lots of luxe fabrics as you would expect from this range, including tulle, sequins, chiffon and lace. Colours are on the pale side of the spectrum, lots of ice blues, soft pinks, metallics with a teeny bit of black thrown in. What I adore about the collection are the details, the pleating, draping, origami folds, layers of ruffles and exaggerated silhouettes. I’m definitely getting the one shoulder ruffle dress for my office party.

The lust list

17 Oct

This is a bit of a random post, a sort of moodboard/brain dump of things that have caught my eye during my online travels. And you know I’m online quite a bit!

Topshop barley thigh leather boots – £120

Thigh-high leather boots won’t be everybody’s bag and you will have to tread the thin line between classy and trashy very, very carefully. I’ve wanted some nice OTK boots since I spied Stella MacCartney’s (non-leather) version about ooh 6/7 years ago? I would pair them with soft, fluffy knits for a bit of a contrast in textures.

Rare one shoulder rose dress – £29 (bargain!)

We’re hurtling towards that time of year again, Christmas party season. You can never have too many dresses and though the LBD is a fail-safe classic, I don’t actually like wearing black dresses. Why blend in with the crowd when you can stand out?! This LRD (little red dress) is sure to get you noticed for the right reasons, I love the sexy one shoulder detail too.

Asos black laser cut skirt – £95

Maxi skirts can look a bit minimalist, very sleek. That’s what I like about them, I tend be quite body-con/tailored but I absolutely love the volume of this maxi skirt. The laser cut fabric will create such beautiful movement too.

River Island fur trapper hat – £19

I’m sure not everyone will agree with me here but I love these adorable novelty hats. I wanted one of the bear beanies but this trapper is just so cute! I’m aware that I’ll look like a 5 year old but I’m hoping I can pull it off in a nonchalant, ironic way.

Balenciaga perfume and purse spray

I’m a big Balenciaga fan and I’m dying to smell this. Nicolas Ghesquiere has wanted to create a fragrance for the Paris fashion house since he joined. The perfume has been described as light and floral with violet notes, both modern and classic at the same time. Balenciaga has also produced a gorgeous black and white purse spray so you can take the fragrance with you.

Tabio crossover sockettes – £20

I first spied these on Kit during LFW and I was so intrigued. Initially, the look more like a spring/summer sort of sock but I think they’re just crying out to be layered over longer socks. If like me you have a serious hosiery addiction, make sure you check Tabio out.
