Paris Fashion Week: Louis Vuitton SS12

5 Oct

Louis Vuitton has done a compelte 180, going from a suped up, super sexy, fetish-inspired autumn/winter 2011 collection to the gentle, sweet and fragile spring/summer 2012 collection. The pretty, watery pastel colour palette is reminiscent of a box of sugared almonds while the use of lace and broderie anglaise heightens the saccharine nature of the collection. I’m sure the oversize lapels and exaggerated silhouettes will become the look du jour next season. Another triumph from Mr Jacobs.

Friday Fashion Fix

17 Jun
A while ago, I used to do a semi-regular Fashion Fix posts which was a quick hit of bitesize pieces of fashion news. I’ve decided to bring it back as a regular feature every Friday. I hope you enjoy it!

Helena Bonham Carter is the face of Marc Jacobs Autumn/Winter 2011.

I think this pairing is a match made in fashion heaven, the eccentricly dressed two-time Oscar nominee and one of the quirkiest designers on the block. Shot by Juergen Teller, the ads are a little obscure but lots of fun.

Angelina Jolie for Louis Vuitton’s Core Values campaign

Angelina Jolie looks absolutely stunning in this Louis Vuitton campaign and the story behind it is beautiful too. The campaign was shot by Annie Leibovitz in Combodia, a country which Jolie has very close emotional ties. She travelled there for her rold in Tomb Raider and was oberwhelmed by the beautiful landscape and wamth of its people. She returned as a UN Goodwill Ambassador and went on to adopt her son Maddox. She has been awarded Cambodian citizenship by King Norodom Sihamoni for her humanitarian work. Her fee for the campaign was donated to charity.

Lanvin to launch ‘Petite’ collection.

If there was ever a reason to get broody this is it: imagine dressing your little princess in some teeny, tiny Lanvin. Alber Elbaz was inspired by Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter Marguerite and features several Lanvin signatures from jewels and ballet flats to gorgeous tulle dresses. Absolutely beautiful.

Rokit AW11 behind-the-scenes video.

I just adore this video, which gives you a sneak peek behind Rokit’s forthcoming Autumn/Winter 2011 collection shoot. Not only does it look like a blast, the clothes are so, so covetable.

Natasha Law collaborates with the W Hotel, London.
Those who follow me on Twitter will know that my new favourite spot in London is the
W hotel, more specifically the super cool bar. The Wyld bar is set to get just a little bit more fabulous as acclaimed artist Natasha Law has collaborated with the bar to create some shot glasses with her signature sexy semi-nude line drawings.

Ayten Gasson video lookbook SS12

Ayten Gasson makes absolutely stunning vintage-inspired lingerie. When I say stunning, I mean so beautiful you will want to forego clothes so that everyone can appreciate how pretty her pieces are. The shoot and video lookbook were styled by my good friend Frankie who is oozing with awesomeness.

Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2011 campaign

20 May
I’ve fallen in love with the Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2011 campaign. The images ooze so much lavish opulence that it’s practically seeping out of these images. The campaign features 6 up and coming models which is a bit of a surprise as LV can usually be relied upon for a mega supermodel line up. The 6 models are joined by 7 pairs of Pedigree pups and 5 beautiful vintage cars for a typically striking and sophisticated campaign with a fresher edge. I love how the rich textures of the collection contrast to the shiny paintwork and wood of the cars and of course that the iconic Lockit handbags were used.

Louis Vuitton AW11

10 Mar

Two words came to mind when I saw the Louis Vuitton show – opulence and excess. No expense was spared for the Autumn/Winter 2011 show, it was a spectacle which almost rivalled the theatrics of Chanel shows with night watchmen guarding an ornate elevator which transported each model one by one. Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss joined a huge parade of models, Kate caused a commotion on Twitter as she closed the show by slinking down the catwalk puffing away on a cigarette.

Getting distracted by the theatrics of the show would be a huge mistake. The collection sizzled with sexual undertones, from the sheer fabrics, moulded leather bodices, coated leather, thigh high socks with teeny tiny short shorts, rubber skirts, handcuffs..! The clothing was voluminous and nipped in at the same time, with a focus on sleeves, collars, jodhpurs and fitted pencil skirts. The real stars of the show were the accessories, a completely mind-boggling amount of shoes and bags worked their way down the runway, shoulder bags, clutch bags, bucket bags. The collection was huge, but perfectly formed the fabrics look sumptuous, lavish and utterly desirable.

All I want some Christmas is….Louis V

3 Nov
Let’s get this straight from the beginning. I’m not the type of girl who covets a ‘designer bag’. Yes, I love Mulberry’s Neely and Proenza’s PS1 but I don’t want a Gucci or Louis Vuitton bag, emblazoned with logos. By that I mean I like the actual design and craftsmanship of specific bag rather than wanting any bag by a certain brand, having a status symbol hanging from my arm. I don’t think there’s anything covetable at all about having the label all over the outside. Except…here’s where I become a hypocrite….pretty much everything in the Louis Vuitton Christmas gift guide looks absolutely divine. From the monogram golf bag to layered trunks. The styling and photography are just stunning. Have you been captivated by Louis Vuitton too?

Louis Vuitton Fall 09

7 Jul

When Marc Jacobs cast Madonna in his Louis Vuitton campaign, it got a lot of tongues wagging. I actually really liked it, the dark, atmospheric French-looking cafe, the killer heels and the fabulous feathered skirt. So I was fairly excited to see the Fall campaign, as Mr Jacobs decided to keep on his current muse. While the styling and clothes are still fabulous, I can’t help but stare open mouthed at the excessive photoshopping. It’s ridiculous! I’m used to seeing models photoshopped to within an inch of their lives, but this is extreme photoshop…please tell me you agree and I’m not being a drama queen about this!
