Happy first birthday, B by Ted Baker

1 Aug
The B by Ted Baker lingerie range has caught my eye in Debenhams on more than one occasion, mainly due to the pretty, eye-catching prints that are Ted Baker’s signature. The brand recently celebrated their 1st birthday and I jumped at the chance to meet the lovely Debenhams PR team and check out the range up close.

The charming collection comprises of lingerie, sleepwear and loungewear. The lingerie collection has everything from multiway to balcony and plunge bras and of course the matching knickers. It has something for everyone, if you prefer simpler pieces in black and cream you won’t be disappointed and if you’re a brighter, pattern girl then you really can’t go wrong with the cute, girly prints. The collection has a real luxe feel as the fabrics and lace are really gorgeous and there are little details which show that it’s a step up from regular high street lingerie collections. The sleepwear/loungewear collection is equally appealing, with everything from pyjamas, chemises, camisoles and kimonos in the same pretty prints

Stella McCartney Josephine Marrying lingerie

12 Jul

What with so many A-list weddings not to mention a fabulous couture season, so much attention has been lavished upon pretty dresses with little thought for what goes underneath them. A recent revelation at Bravissimo has made me much more aware of the importance of laying good foundations before getting dressed so lingerie is very much a priority for me at the moment. I’ll admit that Stella McCartney has been one of my favourite designers for years so I may be a little biased but I truly adore her lingerie collections. They always manage to tread the fine line between being girly without being too frou-frou. Her Josephine Marrying range is typically beautiful with leaver’s lace overlaying soft silk and fully boned corset shapes for a gorgeous silhouette.

Boux Avenue launch extravaganza

1 Apr

Today sees the launch of something very exciting: a brand new UK retailer! I know we get lots of established international brands launching in the UK or young high fashion designers launching their careers, but it’s very rare for an entire UK-based brand to launch into the saturated high street market so I think we all ought to pay a bit of attention! Theo Paphitis has been working on a new ‘adorable and affordable’ lingerie company for a while now, I wrote a post about Boux Avenue last month when I received some very promising preview images.
A couple of days ago I was fortunate enough to be invited to the superstar launch, which was by far the best blogging event I’ve been to. Held at Sketch on Conduit St, Boux Avenue hired out the entire super cool venue to host the decadent launch. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement with gorgeous Boux Avenue clad models swishing around and entertainment in the form of palm readers, jugglers and butlers.

Different rooms within the venue showcased different collections. The Parlour was the ideal setting to check out the Garden Party collection whilst sipping on champagne and nibble on some delicious cakes. Everything from the charming string quartet to the delectable macaroons set the tone for the pretty, vintage-inspired collection.

As the name suggests, the Burlesque Boudoir collection is sexier and naughtier. The old school glamour of the speakeasy setting really set off the gorgeously seductive collection. I love the entire outfit on the left. Aren’t the models beautiful??

Just before the amazing performance kicked off, Tor and I got to meet Theo Paphitis. I’m not going to lie, I was a little over excited!

The highlight of the evening was the spectacular main performance. My words can’t coherently describe how mindblowingly good it was so here are some words: burlesque ballet, jaw dropping, feathers, glitter, sparkles, seductive, crystals, extravaganza.

The website launched earlier on today so you can shop these looks now! The following stores are opening in the next week or so and I’m sure there will be more to follow.

Spring 2010 Trends: Underwear as Outerwear

11 Jan
Lingerie as outerwear is a trend which does the rounds, and it’s about time it came around again! I’m not normally one to quote celebrity trends, but the likes of Rihanna and Lady Gaga have been championing this look for a while. It’s been bubbling under the surface, lace and over the knee socks have been around for a couple of seasons now. But the underwear as outerwear trend is really going to blow up this Spring, lingerie inspired looks have been all over the catwalk from Dior to Proenza Schouler.

L – R: Dolce & Gabbanna, Fendi, Felder Felder x 2, Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior
Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier x 2, Hannah Marshall, House of Holland, Proenza Schouler

It’s not all about having lots of flesh on show, bras were on show under sheer fabrics at Fendi, while House of Holland prefered bralets worn over the top. The brave amongst you can simply wear them along or with a light jacket over the top, a look seen at Gaultier which is one of my favourite looks. Of course, longline bras aren’t the only way to wear this trend. Let’s not overlook exposes suspenders and highwaisted shorts/knickers, the latter has been around for a couple of seasons now. I’m fan of the shorts/knickers, any leg lengthening tricks are very welcome by me! Exposes suspenders will be a bit trickier to wear, but I never say never. An easier way of adopting this trend are the House of Holland faux stocking tights. Rumi of Fashion Toast pulls them off absolutely effortlessly.

Will you be wearing your underwear as outerwear this Spring?
