Muubaa AW11 preview

13 May
The Muubaa AW11 collection is full of contrasts, mixing masculine and feminine elements for an uber covetable collection. The textures, washes and hand finishing result in a beautifully distressed collection. Inspired by Max Max and Blade Runner, Muubaa are reinventing how leather is used in fashion. Details including sculpted wires, cracked, distressed finishes, upturned collars, biker buckles and military influences coupled with their trademark buttersoft leather make for a stunning collection.

Autumn/Winter 2010 is the time for…leather shorts

19 Aug
There’s something about leather clothing which makes people a little nervous. Sure, there might be slight S&M connotations but steer clear of chaps, bustiers and the like and you’ll see it’s such a gorgeous material to wear.  Leather jackets are by far the most popular and mainstream leather clothing option, we all have at least one. Mine is an absolutely beautiful butter soft black one from River Island, which goes to show you can get good quality leather on the high street.
As happy as we are with leather outerwear, I think it’s time to get out of the comfort zone with leather. Leather clothing in the form of shorts, dresses, skirts and even leggings were all over the Autumn/Winter 2010 catwalks so it’s only a matter of time before the trend starts to filter down. My favourite permutation of leather clothing is leather shorts. Daring, yes definitely but I also think they’re pretty wearable too. Picture sheepskin lined boots, woollen tights, a sheer silk/chiffon blouse, chunky scarf and stroke-able leather shorts. Don’t they sound a lot less scary with all of those yummy winter textures thrown in? Fast fashion retailers such as Topshop, ASOS and Zara have already bought in leather shorts available to buy now.
