Lanvin autumn/winter 2011 campaign

30 Aug

If ever we needed a bit of cheering up, it’s today. Major post Bank Holiday blues over here. So thank God for Lanvin’s autumn/winter 2011 campaign which is just too cool for school. The images surfaced a few weeks ago and feature Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmermann making some serious shapes while being photographed by Steven Meisel. It instantly stood out as a really fun, vibrant campaign with a bit of a story behind it, rather than the blank stares and highly styled looks of most fashion houses. The video takes the fun and cranks it up a notch or four, the perfect remedy to the back to work blues. I am so learning the dance in time for FNO!

Friday Fashion Fix

17 Jun
A while ago, I used to do a semi-regular Fashion Fix posts which was a quick hit of bitesize pieces of fashion news. I’ve decided to bring it back as a regular feature every Friday. I hope you enjoy it!

Helena Bonham Carter is the face of Marc Jacobs Autumn/Winter 2011.

I think this pairing is a match made in fashion heaven, the eccentricly dressed two-time Oscar nominee and one of the quirkiest designers on the block. Shot by Juergen Teller, the ads are a little obscure but lots of fun.

Angelina Jolie for Louis Vuitton’s Core Values campaign

Angelina Jolie looks absolutely stunning in this Louis Vuitton campaign and the story behind it is beautiful too. The campaign was shot by Annie Leibovitz in Combodia, a country which Jolie has very close emotional ties. She travelled there for her rold in Tomb Raider and was oberwhelmed by the beautiful landscape and wamth of its people. She returned as a UN Goodwill Ambassador and went on to adopt her son Maddox. She has been awarded Cambodian citizenship by King Norodom Sihamoni for her humanitarian work. Her fee for the campaign was donated to charity.

Lanvin to launch ‘Petite’ collection.

If there was ever a reason to get broody this is it: imagine dressing your little princess in some teeny, tiny Lanvin. Alber Elbaz was inspired by Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter Marguerite and features several Lanvin signatures from jewels and ballet flats to gorgeous tulle dresses. Absolutely beautiful.

Rokit AW11 behind-the-scenes video.

I just adore this video, which gives you a sneak peek behind Rokit’s forthcoming Autumn/Winter 2011 collection shoot. Not only does it look like a blast, the clothes are so, so covetable.

Natasha Law collaborates with the W Hotel, London.
Those who follow me on Twitter will know that my new favourite spot in London is the
W hotel, more specifically the super cool bar. The Wyld bar is set to get just a little bit more fabulous as acclaimed artist Natasha Law has collaborated with the bar to create some shot glasses with her signature sexy semi-nude line drawings.

Ayten Gasson video lookbook SS12

Ayten Gasson makes absolutely stunning vintage-inspired lingerie. When I say stunning, I mean so beautiful you will want to forego clothes so that everyone can appreciate how pretty her pieces are. The shoot and video lookbook were styled by my good friend Frankie who is oozing with awesomeness.

Objets de lust at Lanvin

9 Feb

Like most of you, I lusted after those amazing Lanvin playing cards, but I just could not justify spending that much money on something I would never ever use. Not least because the only card game I know is snap! They were beyond gorgeous though, Alber Elbaz is the most talented fashion illustrator. I’ve spied a couple more Lanvin non-fashion items which I just adore. The notebook is so gorgeous and puts my Paperchase one to shame but my most favourite is the porcelain bowl. Sorry to get all Bree Van Der Kamp on you, but I’d love a whole dinner set to host a Come Dine With Me style cook off with an extra large dollop of fashion fizz on the side.

Lanvin Pre-Fall 2011 collection

17 Jan

“I see Internets every morning — I don’t have an e-mail address and, you know, I don’t do Internet, but every morning my boyfriend, Alex, makes me coffee and we watch these images. And more and more I see these stylish women wearing all these evening dresses for day, and I thought, how beautiful. So it’s not just about the nice gray sweater and the nice, I don’t know, that nice straight skirt, but it’s becoming a little bit more elaborated during the day.” – Alber Elbaz

I want LANVIN, not diamonds!!

2 Nov

Enough of the teasers and drip feeds, everything you ever wanted to know about the Lanvin for H&M  collaboration is here for you in one concise post. The womenswear collection consists of 30 pieces AND 15 accessories, everything from shoes and jewellery to gloves and lipstick! The menswear collection is almost as big with 25 pieces and 10 accessories. My first thought is those collections are pretty generous and secondly it’s nice to see the stylish men of the world are going to be so well catered for. Third thought was ‘Woweeee’ there are so many gorgeous pieces.

They hit 200 stores around the world, with America getting in first on November 20th and the rest of the world catching up on November 23rd. Here’s the campaign, video, look book and price list. Please click on the images to make them bigger.

H&M & Lanvin collaboration – teaser

14 Oct

As some of you may know, my day job is on online marketing. I’m a pretty harsh critic of websites, social media strategies and online marketing campaigns, basically like Alan Sugar but I dress better! One campaign which has blown me away recently is the H&M x Lanvin one. They got the blogosphere and most of Twitter twitching about who the collaboration was going to be with, the videos were very smart and very witty, engaging the internet-savvy target audience from the get-go. When we found out it was Lanvin, pretty much the entire interweb imploded. It’s been quiet since…until this teaser video came out. Like the first videos, it’s very witty and renews interest until the collection is unveiled on Nov 2nd. The video stars Natasha Poly but the clothes are blurred out! This has got to be the best video campaign ever hands down, and it goes against the recent trend of ‘leaking’ images/videos/content to create a buzz. A backstage video, without even a glimpse of the clothing, how novel! What do you think of the video and the campaign?

H&M collaboration – Lanvin!

2 Sep

There have been several whisperings about who the next H&M collaboration will be with. Lots of names have been thrown around, from Thomas Maier of Bottega Veneta and Carolina Hererra to Vivienne Westwood and Tom Ford. But the rumour-mill can stop now, it’s just been announced that it is…LANVIN!! Be still my beating heart! I think it may just be the perfect partnership. I’ve never actually been caught up in the frenzy of H&M collaborations, though I did really like the recent Sonia Rykiel collection. But I would actually join a queue and (im)patiently wait in line to get my hands on a H&M x Lanvin piece.
I love the work of Alber Elbaz at Lanvin, it’s super-luxe, utterly gorgeous and totally unattainable. Even the Lanvin x Acne collaboration had a shockingly high price point. So of course I would love the chance to get my hands on some Lanvin…at H&M prices. There is one niggling doubt in the back of my mind though – quality. With H&M, quality can be a bit hit and miss but at those prices it’s forgiveable. But when they collaborate with the likes of Viktor & Rolf, Comme des Garcon and Karl Lagerfeld, you feel a bit cheated at the poor quality. I was mildly curious about the Jimmy Choo collaboration and was very disappointed.

The collection is previewing on 2nd November and is out on 23rd November. Here’s one of the viral videos H&M released, this one indicating that it was Lanvin:
