In need of a Jasper Garvida cashmere cocoon

19 Jul
Oooh baby it’s cold outside! I can hardly believe it’s July, it looks and feels like October right now. It’s enough to make a girl cancel her plans and stay snuggled up with a cuppa, the duvet and a good DVD. Either that or count down the days til the Autumn/Winter collections start hitting stores. When the temperature plummets, I’m always so tempted to haphazardly throw on the oversize layers like an Olsen, losing any sexy appeal quicker than you can say Michelin Man! This winter though, I’m determined not to follow the same pattern and I’m taking my cue from Jasper Garvida‘s sumptuous AW11 collection. The collection, entitled Le Basier, features some utterly gorgeous pieces in cashmere.
The Pagoda jacket is an instant wardrobe staple, with it’s layered neckline to add dramatic height and width to the shoulders while being nipped in at the waist to create a stunning silhouette. The Zen skirt is the perfect accompaniment for the Pagoda jacket. Like the jacket, it’s structure is extremely flattering and the high slit adds a sexy edge.

The Dragon coat is slightly less dramatic but still features oversize kimono inspired sleeves and Jasper’s signature sharp tailoring.

Push PR Autumn/Winter 2011 press day

21 Jun

Push PR are one of my favourite PR firms, not least because they represent some very cool and quirky little brands. At the Autumn/Winter 2011 press day, I caught up with some of my favourite brands and also discovered some new ones, namely gorgeous goods at Gigi Vintage and Jasper Garvida’s luscious bridal collection.

Vintage Dior and YSL sunglasses at Gigi Vintage

Jasper Garvida‘s bridal collection. Stunning from afar but absolutely beautiful close up, the amount of work that has gone into each piece is staggering.

EC One have got some beautiful, elegant and very simple jewellery for next season.

Eastern Mystic have some beautiful spike jewellery. Obviously, I loved these. The bracelets are made out of pretty stones but the sharp spikes really toughen them up/

Regal Rose are newly represented by Push PR and I instantly fell in love. The pieces are very distinctive and have a slightly Gothic edge, they would pretty much feel at home in my jewellery box. I spent a lot of time playing with the knuckle duster rings, but ultimately the full finger ring was my favourite piece, just. The price points are relatively low too which is great because you won’t want to stop at just one or two pieces. Want. It. All.

Wednesday Wish List

15 Jun
How perfect is this pretty fan for the hot weather, especially on the stifling hot tube. It’s by a London-based family business called Domakaya, who specialise in limited-edition accessories. The collection includes handbags, hats, scarves and shawls adorned with beading, emboirdery, brooches, lace and velvet trims. Domakaya has recently been featured in all the big glossies including Vogue, Elle, Grazia and Instyle. Available here
Next season sees the launch of Jasper Garvida’s first limited edition piece, the gorgeous moss green silk Katherine dress. Jasper wanted to go back to the days when luxury was unattainable, special and highly covetable. There will only be twenty of these gorgeous dresses available via the website from August 2011, with each having their own serial number.

Speaking of luxury, I think it’s meaning has lots it’s way over the years. Nowadays it’s all about products with the logo emblazoned all over it. That’s why I love English, family-run firm Tusting so much. For over 130 years, five generations have been tanning, grading and trading beautiful, subtle  leather pieces which are pretty much free of logos. I adore their soft form travel bags, the eyecatching orange colour of this bag just highlights the beautiful workmanship even more. Available here

Is wishing for next season’s pieces cheating? I just can’t help but covet Maggie Angus’ collection for Autumn/Winter 2011. It’s inspired by nocturnal creatures and it has cosmic influences. Each piece is made from black glittered Perspex, reflecting the mysterious and magical universe at night. My favourite piece is the Ursula bear necklace, bears are my favourite animals. Available here

I was fortunate enough to meet jewellery designer Lauren Adriana towards the end of last week at a QVC event. This girl really knows her jewels; she is a qualified gemmologist and has a super exclusive, super expensive mainline collection. She also has a collection with QVC which is more affordable but still has her signature 70s-sinpired design and precious stones. This black agate and 1.8ct citrine ring is so bold, so me! Available here

The perfect Easter dress

23 Apr

It’s strange how the tiniest things can inspire you. Yesterday, I received the most beautiful Easter basket full of little chicks, hot chocolate kit and mini eggs and became a little captivated with the pretty pastel mini eggs. I think pretty pastels are the perfect colour for the Spring season, especially with all the blossom. The lilac eggs actually reminded me a lot of the Jasper Garvida SS11 collection which had lots of saccharine sweet lilac dresses. The Julia dress was my absolute favourite; the intricate details and pleating are so feminine and pretty.

London Fashion Week – Backstage at Jasper Garvida AW11

22 Feb

Regular readers will know that I adore Jasper Garvida, both the brand and the man behind the label. Last season, I went behind the scenes and found it was the best way to appreciate his beautiful creations was up close. Pictures from the front row don’t quite do the workmanship and detailing justice. I fell in love with the large paillettes in the last collection – especially the shoulders on the dress I borrowed – and I was glad to see Jasper had used these in abundance in this collection. Gorgeous silks and lace were deftly twisted, draped and folded to create a collection which really raised the bar this fashion week. My words really can’t do these pieces justice, so just have a look at my pictures. They’re worth a thousand words.

Jasper Garvida to the rescue!

15 Nov

Last week I had a problem. I was invited to a very fancy black tie charity dinner. The problem is I’m not really the ballgown/fancy dress type, I’m more at home in well, anything but a fancy dress! I checked out all the usual hotspots – Asos, Topshop, Zara et al but they all failed me. Thankfully one of my favourite UK designers came to the rescue! A couple of emails and a trip to see Hannah at his PR company and I had the most stunning dress from Jasper Garvida. I fell in love with the huge sequins, huge shoulders and the contrast between the shiny, hard top half and soft, fluttery pale pink chiffon and silk. I honestly felt like Cinderella that night.

It wouldn’t be Fashion Daydreams outfit if there wasn’t any high-street in it. The dress is obviously from Jasper Garvida, the skinny gold belt is H&M, the bag is M&S and the fur jacket is from Zara

Push PR SS11 press day

6 Nov

I’m sure you guys must know about Push PR by now, I only wrote about their Christmas press day last month. They have a great portfolio of small, independent brands such as Kandee shoes, Jasper Garvida, Upper Street, Nyla and Eastern Mystic so of course I wanted a sneak peek into what they had in store for us for next season. Here are my favourite pieces and things that have shot to the top of my lust list:

Joomi Lim at Nyla Boutique

These gorgeous, badass studded pieces by new jewellery brand Joomi Lim caught my eye straight away. I loved the studded bracelets and also the pearl and stud necklaces for the contrast between prim pearls and kickass studs. These pieces will be available via Nyla, which is a new online boutique specialising in eclectic brands from New York and LA…hence Nyla!

Upper Street

Upper Street was founded by sisters who basically got tired of trying to find the perfect shoe. Who hasn’t been there?! They wanted to bring their own shoe designs to life, and Upper Street was born. It’s not just an outlet for their own designs, anyone can log on and create their own beautiful, handmade shoes. They also collaborated with Jasper Garvida to create some stunning snakeskin gladiator sandals. They’re on the far right-hand side, samples of Upper Street designs are displayed.

Kandee shoes

I’m a big Kandee fan. It’s quite amazing to think that the founder of the company is just 21 years old, I think Kandee shoes are really coming into their own and carving out a niche in the market. If anyone wants to get me the red sparkly pair, I’d love you forever!

EC One

EC One is a jewellery boutique which started in Exmouth Market, hence the name. They have since opened a second boutique in Notting Hill and count the likes of Alexis Bittar and Alex Monroe among the brands stocked at this super little independent jewellery store.

Jasper Garvida

I’m a pretty big Jasper fan, I covered his Spring/Summer 2011 collection in this post, so I won’t write too much about it here. I took lots of detailed pictures to show the quality of the fabrics and those amazing gold disc sequins.
