The Birthday List

4 Jan
This post is more for my real life friends than blogger friends. It’s my 25th birthday very soon and though I’ve been harping on about it for months, I’ve not really given anyone hints about what I would like. And I’m notoriously hard to buy gifts for! To be honest, I’m not too into gifts, just something small and thoughtful is normally more than enough 🙂 I would also appreciate time in a piercer or tattoo artist’s chair!

5 ways to blow a month’s salary

23 Jul

Ok so my job isn’t all glamour and excitement. Sometimes there are boring bits. In between the boring bits I have a habit of daydreaming about marrying a Russian billionaire and making daily Net-a-Porter orders….its usually at this point reality kicks in and I realise the boots I’m staring at would cost almost a month’s salary! If I were the reckless type or a Russian billionaire decided to sweep me off my feet, these beauties are top of my list:

Proenza Schouler PS1

Balmain boots

Marios Schwab dress

Brian Atwood boots

Alberta Feretti dress

Mid-season sales…already?!

21 Mar

I’ve taken to mooching in town instead of living the life of a recluse, after spending an entire week without leaving the house I thought I better rejoin the human race!! Anyway, my mooching and window shopping was interrupted by the obligatory bright red sale signs, declaring that it was time for mid-season sales. Is it just me, or are the mid-season sales ridiculously early?! I mean the Christmas sales draaaagged on til the February, and barely a month on the sales have started again!

Retailers are no doubt having a hard time, trying to succumb people to part with their hard-earned cash, as they keep an eye on profits and their bottom line. I’m not buying this strategy, it didn’t make much of a difference last year and it won’t this year! More long-term thinking is needed, rather than a constant sales culture that they are breeding. It just devalues their non-sale offer! Oh and while I’m lamenting the state of the retail industry, can someone please give me either a job or money so I can take advantage of the current situation?! Well, someone’s gotta help support the economy 😉

Most high street retailers already have their sales on, except H&M, Topshop and New Look. Here are my top picks from Oasis & Warehouse (good quality = good investment!) if you’re feeling particularly patriotic and want to do your bit to help our retailers! Oh and Miss Selfridge has some awesome pieces on sale, particularly denim.

Warehouse Blue Ditsy Off-Shoulder Top – £25

Warehouse Pilgrim Apron Check Dress – £20

Warehouse Crystal Aztec Dress – £40

Oasis Pintuck Full Skirt – £10

Oasis Arthouse Print Shift Dress – £50

Oasis One Shoulder Ruffle Dress – £20

Oasis Asymmetric Mesh Trim Dress – £40

Oasis Drop Waisted Floral Cami – £25

Super leggings

30 Oct

A while ago, I posted on leggings. Not your average cotton leggings though, super leggings: Kova & T latex leggings and Sass & Bide black rats leggings. Not having the disposable income to afford £80-odd on a pair of leggings, I had to sit tight and wait for the glorious British high street to play catch up…and boy has it! Spied in New Look – Sequin leggings and latex/wet look leggings. New Look site is currently playing up, but I promise you they are instore!

Having a nose around the store I found one of the dresses for Sat night on, I discovered they’ve got it going on when it comes to leggings, with these wet look ones AND ruched wet look ones, similar to Sass & Bide’s black rats. A bit…extreme me thinks but no doubt they will keep niggling away and I’ll order them. Are you going to get into super leggings?

If I were a rich girl….

10 Jun

I play this game when I’m supremely bored…basically I’m hypothetically rich and shopping for whatever tickles my fancy. Cause you know, that’s what rich people do. Normally I play this on Net-a-Porter, but the site’s playing up so I decided to spend my hypothetical fortune on ASOS. This is what I would buy:

Tier print cami dress £35. I would team it with a cropped pale stonewash jacket and flats.

Dip-dye satin dress – £38. I’m totally loving dip-dye, I think I would dress this dress down, as it’s more of a challenge to dress it down it would just be too easy to chuck on some killer heels and a nice shiny clutch.

Pink shift dress – £35. Ok, I saw this and pictured myself all Carrie-esque strutting down the street, I couldn’t help but put it in my basket! I also love dresses with pockets.

Gold bead trim halter – £25. I’ve got a top very similar to this in an aqua blue colour and it makes a change from normal boring vest tops, plus all my new brown and gold jewelary would look awesome with it!

White long line ribbed vest top – £6. Ever since Pamcasso did her ‘white top and jeans’ project, I’ve become slightly obsessed with basics. This vest top looks hot, I’d buy it a size big and wear it with everything!

High leg leather glads – £45. Absolutely love glads, havent got any ankle length ones yet but these are perfect, and the colour is gorgeous! I would wear these with everything, I think they would be perfect for dressing down pretty dresses.
