Daphne Guinness at the Met Ball 2011

4 May

I purposefully left Daphne Guinness out of my previous post on the Met Ball, I just felt like she deserved her own post. When I said the Met Ball was for pushing the fashion boundaries, I was thinking about Daphne. The impeccably dressed muse and couture collector continually experiments and challenges the status quo like an inquisitive child. I mean that in the best possible way, she’s true patron of the fashion world.

I was quite intrigued to see what she would choose to wear to the opening of the McQueen exhibit, as a very close friend of the designer it was a given that it would be something McQueen but I felt as if her actual outfit choice would be significant. It seems I’m not the only one who thought so as Daphne was videoed getting dressed in a dramatic performance piece for Barneys. She ended up wearing a Burton designed McQueen dress, which I thought was a very poignant stamp of approval for the new designer.
