Clothing at Tesco F&F SS12 press day

22 Nov

Last week, I headed to the iconic OXO Tower for Clothing at Tesco‘s SS12 press day. After a brisk walk down a cold and dark South Bank, I stepped through the doors into a tropical summer setting. It was a lovely – and much needed – surprise, the bright lights and bold colours really brightened up my day. The vivid hues coupled with statement stripes, ditzy dots and fabulous florals made for a really eyecatching statement and a very strong collection – all at affordable prices. It’s the most fashion-forward collection I’ve seen from F&F and really proved that supermarket chic does exist. The collection has really raised the bar for affordable fashion, New Look et al should take note.

Deco Tribal – A new twist on tribal which encorporates deco styling, this is  a formal look with soft elements. Fashes of vivid green add interest to the collection along with monochrome prints. Chic shift silhouettes with a drop waist are key, as are sharp cropped jackets worn with slim-cut trousers, accessoried with bold jewels for a statement look.

Modern graphic – This look is about vivid colour and graphic prints with sharp silhouettes – a soft shirt or shell top worn with fluid high waisted trousers or a graphic print jersey dress layered with a minimal trapeze coat or soft blazer. Complete the look with glossy totes, belts and wedges.

Great Gatsby – Inspired by the 20s and 30s, this is a romantic trend with frills, ruffles and lace. This look is all about softer dressing, with printed midi tea dresses worn with a coloured blazer, soft fluid trousers with a lightweight knit or a tiered skirt with a soft, romantic blouse. Blue and white porcelain inspired prints are on transparent chiffons with playful ruffles and fine lace detailing.

Tribal – Inspired by colours from the earth and the dessert, Kenya and Morocco, as well as modern primitive and desert tribes. This look uses prints including snakeskin, leopard, textures, Aztec and geometrics. Finish the look with raffia accessories and bold jewellery.

Pearls and playsuits

31 Jul

Recently, the lovely guys at Jersey Pearl asked me to take part in their ‘rock your pearls’ style challenge. The idea is to rock peals in a unique and interesting way. I actually adore peals and wear two pearl studs in my ears and a single pearl on a necklace everyday, I never take them off. Though I love them, I think some people can be a bit hesitant to wear them as they’re quite ‘classic’. That’s why I chose to style them up in a very contemporary way, with a floral printed playsuit, tan platforms and my beloved Alexander Wang bag. The necklace I chose was a long freshwater pearl necklace which can either be worn long or looped around to make it shorter.

F&F Spring/Summer 2011 press day

7 Nov

Regular readers will know that I’m a big high-street advocate, I love affordable fashion. And you can’t get more affordable than F&F at Tesco! I was quite excited to see the Spring/Summer 2011 collection up close. There were lots of uber-covetable pieces, my favourites were the shorts (both the brown ones and plaited denim) as well as the floaty blouses which had a very 70s vibe. There were also many gorgeous dresses, an exquisite beaded waistcoat and a very cute crochet bolero. The prints were stunning too, very much looking forward to this colourful vision for Spring/Summer. The best thing is I could pretty much scoop up the whole collection, gotta love affordable chic fashion.
