Bottega Veneta’s perfume campaign

Bottega Veneta have just released their third and final short film for the launch of their first women’s fragrance, which features behind-the-scenes footage of Bruce Weber shooting the beautiful Nine d’Urso for the advertising campaign.

V Magazine brings back supermodels.

Bringing supermodels after a two year haitus is a pretty bold move, resulting in four super eyecatching covers featuring two models apiece. Styled by Carine Roitfeld, the result is visually stunning and vibrant. It’s hard to pick a favourite but I think Candice Swanepoel and Joan Smalls pip the others to the post. Carine says: “These eight girls are unique, not one is like the other. Candice is the only blonde and blue-eyed of this new generation of supermodels. Joan is black, Sui He is Asian, Hanaa is North African. It’s their diversity that makes each of them, to me, truly modern. They bring a new energy to fashion.”

Chanel replaces Freja Beha!

Another bold move also involving Carine, Chanel have ended Freja Beha Erichsen’s five campaign reign at Chanel. I have to admit, although the AW11 campaign was cheeky and charming, it wasn’t my favourite so I’m intrigued to see what SS12 brings. Lagerfeld shot new faces Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls, who were styled by Carine Roitfeld. Lagerfeld is also due to shoot Arizona Muse for Fendi, replacing Anja Rubik after four seasons as the face of the brand. It seems that Mr Lagerfeld is after change and something fresh.

Prada to launch jewellery collection…in time for Christmas.

Rip up that letter to Santa, ladies, Prada are launching their first jewellery collection next month…just in time for Christmas. The limited edition capsule collection featured a feminine, quirky range of brooches, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and cuffs. I’m pretty partial to a shiny bauble or six, but I’m not convinced by the collection, especially given the price tag which starts at 350 Euros. The leather cuffs are gorgeous though.

You’re invited to the launch of Emerging Artists and Designers Month!

Readers of Fashion Daydreams are invited to pop down to Narciss boutique on Westbourne Grove to the launch event for Emerging Artists and Designers Month, where contemporary art and fashion merge.

Republic launches White collection.

High street fashion favourite Republic have launched their White Label collection which features affordable wardrobe staples at pocket friendly prices. Think gilets, chinos, shirts, tshirts, hoodies and even boots for under £30.

The campaign trail: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu and Chanel AW11

4 Jul
Dakota’s little sister Elle Fanning is the new face of Marc by Marc Jacobs and I adore the first preview of the shoot with Juergen Teller. The image is gorgeous, Elle looks a little like Jessica Stam and the overall look of the image is lovely. I was fairly critical of Miu Miu’s decision to use Hailee Steinfeld as the face of their new campaign and although they’re similar ages, I think this campaign is more appropriate. Marc by Marc has much lower price points and has a much younger feel than Miu Miu.

Here are images from Miu Miu’s campaign, featuring the young Hailee Steinfeld. As reported in an earlier post, the decision has been a little controversial. The final images show the 14-year old looking mature and older than her years. I’m not sure why but this campaign doesn’t sit well with me. Perhaps it’s the polished, elegant collection and structured handbags, it almost looks like Hailee is playing dress up. What do you think?

I’ve already posted the teaser preview images for the Chanel Autumn/Winter 2011 campaign, featuring Freja Beha styled by Carine Roitfeld and shot by Karl Lagerfeld, and here are the first of the final images to be released. A very different direction for Chanel, though I think the teaser images show much more promise than these two images deliver. Eagerly awaiting the rest.

Chanel AW11 campaign preview, styled by Carine Roitfeld

9 Jun
Trust Carine Roitfeld to inject some sex into Chanel. The ex-EIC of Vogue Paris styled the Autumn/Winter 2011 campaign for super luxe label Chanel, which was photographed by Karl Lagerfeld as usual with Freja Beha Erichsen making her fifth consecutive appearance in the brand’s campaign. The images have a very raw, young and edgy feel compared to the polished, prim images of season’s past. If these preview shots are anything to go by, the campaign is going to be sizzling hot and a departure from the typical Chanel aesthetic. The beginning of a new era, perhaps?

Boy Capel inspires new Chanel bag collection

26 May
Introducing the new Chanel Boy bags! The collection is brand new and launches next season. Comprising of five oh so covetable bags, they make for a simple and minimal addition to the iconic Chanel handbag collection. Inspired by Coco Chanel’s functional and practical androgynous look, the collection has a pared down, slight utilitarian undertone. The designs are based on a hunting cartridge style originally carried by Coco and the collection is named after Boy Capel, the great love of her life.  Having seen Coco Avant Chanel about a billion times, I can just imagine Coco herself creating the beautiful glazed calfskin collection herself. I want.

Who wore what – amfAR Cannes Gala 2011

23 May

I know that, on the whole, I’ve pretty much ignored Cannes. It was a little relentless, like it’s own mini Fashion Week so I’ve decided to cover the best event with dresses which, in my option, far surpassed the splendour we saw on the red carpet during awards season. Whites, neutrals and gold were very popular, as were Cavalli, Atelier Versace and Chanel. Givenchy was the designer du jour though with no less than 5 Givenchy gowns spotted. The dress of the night was worn by Giovanna Battaglia in vintage Stephen Sprouse. A bold choice, but she looks out of this world! Who’s your favourite?

Rosario Dawson in Roberto Cavalli

Bar Rafaeli in Roberto Cavalli and Karl Lagerfeld

Ana Beatriz Barros in Roberto Cavalli

Georgina Chapman in Marchesa

Brooke Shields in Marchesa

Milla Jovovich in Atelier Versace

Irina Shayk in Atelier Versace

Gwen Stefani in custom LAMB, Dasha Zhukova in Givenchy

Kristen McMenamy, Riccardo Tisci, Courtney Love in Givenchy couture

Kanye West in Givenchy and Carine Roitfeld in Givenchy couture

Kirsten Dunst in Chanel couture

Doutzen Kroes in Balenciaga

Alessandra Ambrosio in Roberto Cavalli

Anja Rubik in Emilio Pucci

Paris – New Years Eve 2009-2010

2 Jan
Happy new year, darlings!
I hope all of you had a fantastic NYE and saw in the new decade in style. I had an absolutely amazing New Year’s Eve in Paris, it was absolutely unforgettable! It was snowing, not really heavily, but how special is that?! The road trip was epic, over 500 miles in 2 days, but way worth it. This is the furthest I’ve roadtripped so I wasn’t sure what to wear but I knew comfort was paramount! I wore something similar to what I would wear on a flight, a comfy dress and leggings with thick socks. It’s an unbeatable travel combination!
Dress – Blue Inc
We decided to head to the Champs Elysees for midnight, it was like a massive street party the atmosphere was crazy! It’s by far the chicest way to see in the new year, and I thought it was very appropriate to be wearing new clothes from head to toe. It was so unbelievably cold though. I did wear a coat, but could have done with scarf, gloves and thermals!
Top – Topshop, Belt – Primark, Skirt – River Island, Boots – New Look
The next day, we took in the sites of Paris. For me, that meant heading to Chanel on Rue Cambon and then onto Colette while keeping an eye out for Karl Lagerfeld’s yellow Hummer!! I didn’t spot him, but there’s always next time 😉 After seeing Coco Before Chanel, I’ve been a bit obsessed by Chanel and I’ve been dying to see the Rue Cambon store. Unfortunately all the shops were closed but I took loads of pictures of the gorgeous window display.

Cape – ASOS

While we were in Paris, it was snowing very lightly. However, on the way to Calais, the snow started coming down pretty hard. So hard that we were in standstill traffic for what seemed like forever…well long enough to create a, well it’s not quite a snowman but that’s what I’ll call it!I That was the perfect end to my mini adventure, I hadn’t played in the snow for years!

Chanel Paris-Moscow Fall 09-10

27 May

Images from the campaign, Sasha Pivovarova shot by Karl Lagerfeld.

Normally, I ignore pre-season collections (they mess with my little head!) but these are simply sublime, very luxe and more-is-more. Which I’m really feeling at the moment. Are you loving them??

Givenchy Fall 09 campaign images to follow on Saturday, along with my proof that fashion is complex and has many layers invisible to the untrained eye..
