Burberry childrenswear AW11

1 Nov

I have just spied this utterly adorable campaign and just had to share. Apologies if you feel broody, it’s probably better if you skip this post. I had no idea that Burberry did childrenswear but the British superbrand has been doing kids clothing for years. They opened their first childrenswear only store in Westbourne Grove in 2009 after opening the first stand-alone store in Hong Kong a year earlier. Bestsellers include trenchcoats and dresses which match the adult collections. I wouldn’t want to dress my child as a mini me, but I have never wanted a child more than I do right now…I even think I like the children’s clothes more than the collection I saw swishing down the catwalk back in February! What do you think?

LFW – Burberry SS12 Tweetwalk

19 Sep

It’s no secret to anyone that Burberry is investing significantly in it’s digital channel, about 60% of the superbrand’s marketing budget is allocated to the online realm. While labels and brands are starting to embrace livestreaming much more, that’s old hat for Burberry who have been doing it for a few seasons now; watching the Burberry livestream is as much a part of London Fashion Week for me as registering, navigating the cobbles in heels or surviving on Vitamin Water. A couple of seasons ago, they enabled super keen customers to pre-order certain pieces straight from the catwalk in strictly limited numbers. This for me was a stroke of genius, showing that although Burberry are huge advocates of making fashion more accessible, they are also keen to stay to their exclusive, luxury roots. What could be more luxe than getting next season’s must have piece early? Burberry have also gone 3D and had interactive campaigns, they are truly pioneering the use of digital.

This season marked another digital boundry broken – the tweetwalk. Burberry know that practically everyone in attendance will be tweeting pictures from the show as it happens so why not pip them to the post? Giving Twitter the world exclusive, models were snapped just before they hit the catwalk.  With the livestream showing in one half of my screen and the Tweetwalk in the other, I was glued to my screen. The most exciting, interactive way to show… ever. And my verdict of the show? Although the collection seemed more AW than SS, I cannot wait to embrace raffia, exotic skins, parkas and pencil skirts in autumnal colours and those beautifully rich prints.

This is the first livestream hosted on Fashion Daydreams, I hope it works!

*edit* the livestream worked a treat, but I’ve replaced it with a video of the show. Enjoy!

London Fashion Week – Burberry Spring/Summer 2011

22 Sep

Over the last few seasons, Burberry has become the shining star of London fashion. The brand everyone looks to, the show which dictates how London is written up, the show which editors fly in for. I think the show caused a buzz before it even began. The show itself was utterly gorgeous. Camel continues to be huge for Spring/Summer along with bright pops of aqua, yellow, orange and magenta to give it a zing. The collection also featured a more muted palette of pinks, ink blue, mint green and soft browns with some metallics also thrown into the mix.

I loved the use of leather and studs to add a toughness, to trenches which was just perfection and also to gorgeous chiffon and silk dresses. There was also a lot of animal print towards the end. The biker jackets are sure to be next season’s aviator. The leather quilted trousers (4:56, 10:01) are rocking my world right now as is the trench with the studs (9:40 onwards).

Aviator alternatives

11 Sep

Since February, one AW 10 trend has been a dead cert – the aviator jacket. British heritage super-brand Burberry is the reason for this, their luxe, pure sheepskin, leather version instantly topped every fashionista’s lust list. With the buzz building and growing, smart retailers took note and everywhere from Reiss to Topshop to Primark has aviators in. Which has quite frankly turned me off them, with aviators so readily available everyone and their mother will be wearing them. Who wants to be a fashion sheep?!

It’s such a shame, as they are terribly practical, I certainly could have done with a cosy sheepskin coat during the heavy snowfall last winter. But there are plenty, plenty of options for those who want an alternative to aviators. Here are my top picks.  I am loving Navajo jackets, parkas and duffle details at the moment. You certainly can’t beat a classic belted trench. I have a gorgeous black cape from last year which I will be resurrecting but there are so many lovely ones out at the moment.  Will you be buying into the aviator trend or going for something different?

Dress Me Up @ Topshop

29 Nov

Ok this must be one of the most exciting things Topshop has done…ever! A ton of celebrities, from Kate Moss to Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, have donated some absolutely stunning dresses which Topshop is hiring out for a mere £40! All proceeds are going towards two very deserving charities – Help the Aged and Age Concern. I happened to stumble upon the fabulous 50s style dressing up boudoir yesterday while shopping with Kristabel, and just couldn’t help myself when I saw a beautiful Burberry dress (next season) worn by Frieda Pinto.

Unfortunately, I don’t think I have an event fit for such a gorgeous dress, believe me I tried justifying wearing it to work/shopping/cinema but it’s really not happening! Apologies for the crazy light settings and crazier hair…it was raining a storm in London all day…

Burberry Fall 08

27 Jun
I’m sure you have all heard that Agy had been dropped by Burberry in favour of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. It’s not the first time a model has got dropped, but according to tabloids, the girls have a full on rivalry, as Agyness has been snubbing Rosie since Christopher Bailey made his decision. don’t feel too bad for her though, Shiseido has dropped Angelina Jolie in favour of Agy. Anyway, here are the latest pictures of the Burberry fall ’08 campaign, also starring Sam Riley.

World’s apart from the previous rock-inspired campaign, but I like them. Moody and melancholic.
