Next/Elle style awards blogger competition

10 Feb
In the interest of transparency, this blog post is an entry for a competition to win tickets to the Elle Style Awards next Monday. The task was to recreate my favourite celebrity look of 2010 using items from Next. My favourite look of the entire year was Blake Lively in Lanvin at Spike TV’s 2010 Scream Awards. She looked absolutely stunning in a head-to-toe look straight from the catwalk, accessories included. It was surprisingly easy to recreate this look with Next products; the maxi dress even includes the belt! The only finishing touch needed is a DIY slit at the front, et voila!

Blogger’s Christmas Dinner

2 Jan

Last month, I thought it would be nice to organise a wee blogger’s Christmas get together for some of the lovely folk I’ve met through the crazy world of fashion blogging. We all see each other pretty regularly but usually we’re on official blogger business and taking notes/pictures/asking questions rather than catching up. Oh and I needed to wear my Lanvin x H&M dress in the presence of people who would appreciate it!
I’m not a huge turkey fan so I chose what seems to be blogger’s favourite cuisine, dimsum. Rather selfishly, I chose one of my favourite restaurants – Ping Pong. I’ve been going for years and it’s become my automatic response when someone suggests lunch or dinner. At dinner, both Kristabel and Jenny reminded me that the first time they went to Ping Pong was with me. As I’m such a super-fan, the lovely folk at Ping Pong helped me to plan the shindig, they put aside a private room in the new-ish Appold Street restaurant which is just by Liverpool Street station. The room is absolutely gorgeous, two walls are glass and it’s just stunning.
Unfortunately, a few people couldn’t make it due to the snow which is a shame. But the rest of us – Kristabel from I want you to know, Jenny from The Style PA, Katie from London Plinth, Fiona from Save Our Shoes, Matthew from Un Nouveau Ideal, Alize from Blog de Tendances and Kit from Style Slicker – had a ball. I think we all OD’ed on dim sum and the amazing flowering jasmine tea – if you haven’t tried this, make it your new year’s resolution! Huge thanks to Emma for helping to organise the night.

Sketchbook Mag Pop-Up

25 Apr

I’m sure most of you London-based bloggers have passed through the Sketchbook Mag pop-up shop in Carnaby Street, if not…why the hell not?! Based at 10 Newburgh Street, London’s best pop-up has been in residence since 30th March celebrating fashion, music and art. There has been an absolutely fantastic program of events and talks and workshops involving stylists and bloggers such as Susie Bubble, illustration classes, live music, sample sales and lots of cupcakes! The whole space is so inspiring, there are amazing illustrations on the walls of the main gallery, a themed room and two screening rooms. Totally in awe of Sketchbook‘s editor Wafa (an absolute doll) and her team, they have pulled of something really, really special. So special in fact that the pop-up shop has been extended, so make sure you plan a trip to Newburgh Street.

Here are some pictures of this amazing space, courtesy of the super-sweet Winnie from Diamond Canopy and super-talented Kit from Style Slicker:
