Face of Fabulous launch party

14 Jun
Last week, the lovely guys at Fabulous magazine invited me to the a secret bloggers party to announce a very special exclusive to some gorgeous bloggers including Fi from Save Our Shoes, Carina from Carina 100, Frankie from Swell Vintage, Sherin from Hi Fashion, Susie from Take-out in Couture, Ronke from The Musings of Ondo Lady and Jenny from The Style PA. We were given a behind-the-scenes peek into life at Fabulous, a chance to raid their New Look fashion wardrobe and getting our hair and makeup did in their beautiful offices which had stunning views across London.

There was a point to all that fun, honest. The party was purpose of the party was to launch the ‘Face of Fabulous’ model competition, in association with Next Model Management. The lucky competition winner will appear on the cover of the magazine as well as a year’s contract with Next, who have the likes of Alexa Chung, Alice Dellal, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Karlie Kloss and Anja Rubik on their impressive roster. The competition is hosted on the Fabulous Facebook page, all you need to do is upload a picture by 2nd July as public voting closes on 4th. The next stage of the competition will be judged by Fabulous’ editor Rachel Richardson, fashion director Tracey Lea Sayer and Next Model Management’s head of new faces Ross Young.

I had lots of fun catching up with some of my favourite blogger ladies over cupcakes and champage. The team at Rush did a fab job of curling and styling my hair – which has been recently highlighted, more on that in another post. The highlight was definitely playing dress up with Sherin and Susie though, these killer shoes from the New Look x LCF collaboration were my favourite by far. It’s totally ok to base an outfit around a pair of shoes, right?! Here’s pictorial evidence of what went down….

Rokit blogger tea party

6 May

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to spend a super fun Sunday over at Rokit HQ for a blogger’s dress up tea party. The event was held in their humongous warehouse, which was a treasure trove for the intrepid blogger pack who descended en masse to check out Rokit’s vintage delights. The guys over at Rokit are seriously passionate about vintage, I can’t describe how huge the warehouse space is and it was full to the brim with lovely, unique wares. I was drawn to the accessories and playsuits as well as some of the crazy denim jackets but they also had some stunning vintage wedding dresses too. All of the bloggers went for really different stuff, showing that they have such a huge amount of stock that they can appeal to pretty much everyone. Some of my favourite looks are below.

Huge thanks to superstar PR Nik and the guys at Rokit for such a lovely Sunday x

One day, I will own one of their gorgeous tutus

Every year, Most Wanted (the blog for VoucherCodes.co.uk) announce their Fashion 100, a definitive list of the most influential fashion blogs. They have just announced the list and little ol’ me made the cut! I made the ‘best up and coming UK fashion blog’ category along with fellow fashion babes Sherin from Hi Fashion, Selina from Flying Saucer, Kit from Style Slicker and Gem from Gem Fatale. Aww shucks! I was also really happy to see lots of my other blogger friends included in the other categories below:

Best  UK Fashion Blogs
Best International Fashion Blogs
Best Up and Coming UK Blogs
Best Up and Coming International Blogs
Best Men’s UK Fashion Blogs
Best Thrifty/Vintage UK Fashion Blogs
Best UK Street Style Blogs
One’s to Watch – UK Blogs to Keep an Eye on

As well as the lovely accolade, they threw a party a few months ago which included cupcakes and a private screening of Marie Antoinette. Here are some pictures from the awesome photobooth which I was a little addicted to!

Boux Avenue launch extravaganza

1 Apr

Today sees the launch of something very exciting: a brand new UK retailer! I know we get lots of established international brands launching in the UK or young high fashion designers launching their careers, but it’s very rare for an entire UK-based brand to launch into the saturated high street market so I think we all ought to pay a bit of attention! Theo Paphitis has been working on a new ‘adorable and affordable’ lingerie company for a while now, I wrote a post about Boux Avenue last month when I received some very promising preview images.
A couple of days ago I was fortunate enough to be invited to the superstar launch, which was by far the best blogging event I’ve been to. Held at Sketch on Conduit St, Boux Avenue hired out the entire super cool venue to host the decadent launch. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement with gorgeous Boux Avenue clad models swishing around and entertainment in the form of palm readers, jugglers and butlers.

Different rooms within the venue showcased different collections. The Parlour was the ideal setting to check out the Garden Party collection whilst sipping on champagne and nibble on some delicious cakes. Everything from the charming string quartet to the delectable macaroons set the tone for the pretty, vintage-inspired collection.

As the name suggests, the Burlesque Boudoir collection is sexier and naughtier. The old school glamour of the speakeasy setting really set off the gorgeously seductive collection. I love the entire outfit on the left. Aren’t the models beautiful??

Just before the amazing performance kicked off, Tor and I got to meet Theo Paphitis. I’m not going to lie, I was a little over excited!

The highlight of the evening was the spectacular main performance. My words can’t coherently describe how mindblowingly good it was so here are some words: burlesque ballet, jaw dropping, feathers, glitter, sparkles, seductive, crystals, extravaganza.

The website launched earlier on today so you can shop these looks now! The following stores are opening in the next week or so and I’m sure there will be more to follow.

Sheffield Meadowhall
Kent Bluewater
Essex Lakeside
Cardiff St David’s Centre

Blogger’s Christmas Dinner

2 Jan

Last month, I thought it would be nice to organise a wee blogger’s Christmas get together for some of the lovely folk I’ve met through the crazy world of fashion blogging. We all see each other pretty regularly but usually we’re on official blogger business and taking notes/pictures/asking questions rather than catching up. Oh and I needed to wear my Lanvin x H&M dress in the presence of people who would appreciate it!
I’m not a huge turkey fan so I chose what seems to be blogger’s favourite cuisine, dimsum. Rather selfishly, I chose one of my favourite restaurants – Ping Pong. I’ve been going for years and it’s become my automatic response when someone suggests lunch or dinner. At dinner, both Kristabel and Jenny reminded me that the first time they went to Ping Pong was with me. As I’m such a super-fan, the lovely folk at Ping Pong helped me to plan the shindig, they put aside a private room in the new-ish Appold Street restaurant which is just by Liverpool Street station. The room is absolutely gorgeous, two walls are glass and it’s just stunning.
Unfortunately, a few people couldn’t make it due to the snow which is a shame. But the rest of us – Kristabel from I want you to know, Jenny from The Style PA, Katie from London Plinth, Fiona from Save Our Shoes, Matthew from Un Nouveau Ideal, Alize from Blog de Tendances and Kit from Style Slicker – had a ball. I think we all OD’ed on dim sum and the amazing flowering jasmine tea – if you haven’t tried this, make it your new year’s resolution! Huge thanks to Emma for helping to organise the night.

Bertie blogger’s event

15 Oct

Just before LFW kicked off, I was invited to an exclusive blogger’s event at Bertie‘s flagship store on South Molton Street – one of my favourite little streets in London. Now I’ve got to admit, I’ve never bought a pair of shoes at Bertie before so I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I discovered that the autumn/winter collection is utterly gorgeous! Bertie are part of the Dune group, which also Dune (obviously) and Pied a Terre, so they know good shoes. The store itself is lovely, it has a very industrial feel with exposed brickwork, strands of white leather hanging from the ceiling and pegged up polaroids.

The store

In terms of the new collection, there are a couple of themes which run through the collection: geek chic – pretty much a style staple now, everyone loves a good brogue or loafer, boho winter – think ultra cosy shearling and fur and revolutionary – military-inspired with metal details like eyelets and studs.

I was hanging out with Amy from Wolf Whistle and Christine from A Sense Sublime and we had such a hard time trying to choose which gorgeous pair to take home. I could have easily taken away half a dozen pairs. I eventually went with some utterly irresistible wedge brogues, I just had to wear them to LFW…here’s a quick snap of me in my new favourite shoes.
