Spring/Summer 2011 campaigns part I

30 Dec

With all of the shops clearing out all of the old AW10 stock and moving in transitional pieces already, it seems like a good time to look forward to the gorgeous campaigns which will grace our magazines in the coming months. The campaigns are very different, don’t you think? Givenchy is my favourite, the image is so striking and powerful. What’s your favourite?

Givenchy Spring/Summer 2011 – Daphne Groeneveld, Stephen Thompson, Iris Strubegger and Mariacarla Boscono shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

Moschino S/S 2011 – Yasmin Le Bon shot by Juergen Teller

Chloe Spring/Summer 2011 – Iselin Steiro & Malgosia Bela shot by David Sims

Balenciaga S/S 11 – Gisele Bundchen & Yuri Pleskun shot by Steven Meisel

The lust list

17 Oct

This is a bit of a random post, a sort of moodboard/brain dump of things that have caught my eye during my online travels. And you know I’m online quite a bit!

Topshop barley thigh leather boots – £120

Thigh-high leather boots won’t be everybody’s bag and you will have to tread the thin line between classy and trashy very, very carefully. I’ve wanted some nice OTK boots since I spied Stella MacCartney’s (non-leather) version about ooh 6/7 years ago? I would pair them with soft, fluffy knits for a bit of a contrast in textures.

Rare one shoulder rose dress – £29 (bargain!)

We’re hurtling towards that time of year again, Christmas party season. You can never have too many dresses and though the LBD is a fail-safe classic, I don’t actually like wearing black dresses. Why blend in with the crowd when you can stand out?! This LRD (little red dress) is sure to get you noticed for the right reasons, I love the sexy one shoulder detail too.

Asos black laser cut skirt – £95

Maxi skirts can look a bit minimalist, very sleek. That’s what I like about them, I tend be quite body-con/tailored but I absolutely love the volume of this maxi skirt. The laser cut fabric will create such beautiful movement too.

River Island fur trapper hat – £19

I’m sure not everyone will agree with me here but I love these adorable novelty hats. I wanted one of the bear beanies but this trapper is just so cute! I’m aware that I’ll look like a 5 year old but I’m hoping I can pull it off in a nonchalant, ironic way.

Balenciaga perfume and purse spray

I’m a big Balenciaga fan and I’m dying to smell this. Nicolas Ghesquiere has wanted to create a fragrance for the Paris fashion house since he joined. The perfume has been described as light and floral with violet notes, both modern and classic at the same time. Balenciaga has also produced a gorgeous black and white purse spray so you can take the fragrance with you.

Tabio crossover sockettes – £20

I first spied these on Kit during LFW and I was so intrigued. Initially, the look more like a spring/summer sort of sock but I think they’re just crying out to be layered over longer socks. If like me you have a serious hosiery addiction, make sure you check Tabio out.

Model Profile: Mirte Maas

9 Jan
The very first model profile of 2010! I’ve chosen a relative newcomer, Dutch model Mirte Maas. Mirte was only signed to her agency, Women Management last year but has already been featured on Style.com as one of their top 10 newcomers! She appeared in a Russian Vogue editorial in August, a month before making her debut opening the Alexander Wang Spring 2010 show. She also opened for Donna Karan and closed for Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, not a bad start. She also went on to open the Yves Saint Laurent show in Paris and also walked for a whole host of fashion’s finest, including Balenciada, Chloe, Valentino, Chanel and Louis Vuitton!
As if that wasn’t enough to keep a girl busy, she’s also in the Balenciaga Spring 2010 campaign, alongside Particia van der Vliet and Iselin Steiro shot by Steven Meisel. Definitely one to watch.
