Aussie-versary giveaway!

19 Aug

Earlier on this week, I received this lovely party pack from Aussie to kickstart their Aussie-versary campaign. The aim of the campaign is to encourage us to party, whether our reason is big or small. It included two of my favourite Aussie products from their Take The Heat range which is designed to nourish heat damaged hair. Perfect for me, I regularly abuse my hair with the help of hair dryers and GHDs. The 3 minute miracle is my absolute favourite, it takes my hair from straw-like to silky in a matter of minutes. The pack also included party popperes and Fizz Wiz to get the party kicked off, superstar sunglasses in case the paparazzi are about and some Aussie flip flops for when the heels take their toll!

They have kindly given me seven packs for you guys to win too! To enter, just comment on this post and let me know what you’re celebrating. This can be something big or small, tonight I will be celebrating the fact that it’s Friday and that I’m wearing a new skirt! As an added incentive, one of the winners will win 10 tickets for the super exclusive Aussie Summer Party which is only open to Aussie Angels. Their parties are always super fun and I would love for one of you to win the chance to attend. Good luck!

Aussie Lusciously Light Summer Soiree

29 Jun
On Saturday, something rather epic happened. The Aussie Angels from the North and the Aussie Angels from the South were united for the first time ever for the Aussie Lusciously Light Summer Soiree. It took place in the gorgeous Sunbeam studios which had been transformed into a photo studio, hair salon and bar, complete with a candy floss corner. I know..they spoil us!

I had a sneaking suspicion that there would be hairstylists on hand so I didn’t do a lot to my hair, just the signature Reena look. This involves spritzing freshly washed hair with Aussie leave-in conditioner, rough drying your hair for about 10 minutes until almost dry, another quick spritz with the leave-in conditioner then twisting your hair into a very rough bun whilst you finish getting ready and travelling to your destination. Once there, undo the bun and give your head a quick shake et voila – a natural, voluminous wavy look.

My hair was styled by the lovely Perry, founder of the newly opened Blue Tit salon in Dalston. He loved my hair as it was and just made the waves a little curlier and added a bit of texture. Amy from Wolf Whistle definitely had the make over of the day. Perry’s partner in crime spent hours curling her hair and then brushing it out to create a candy floss masterpiece. How amazing does she look?

Huge thanks to the Aussie team and the guys at Blue Tit for such a lovely day.

My Lusciously Light journey

9 May

As some of you may know, I’m an Aussie Angel. Mostly, that means continuing to wash my hair with their shampoos and conditioners (I’ve always been a fan) and also attending the odd spectacularly amazing event. But now they’re putting me to work. I’ve signed up for the ‘Lusciously Light Self’ bootcamp, in association with their new Lusciously Light range which is perfect for the summer as it doesn’t weigh your hair down. The bootcamp is all about getting healthy, it’s a bit of a godsend to have some guidance to be honest as I tend to sit on the sofa and blog with an éclair in one hand and a handful of Party Rings in the other. It’s obviously important to be healthy and we can all use some pointers or a little kick-start in my case. Aussie have put together a couple of easy to follow videos with some simple exercises and tips for healthy eating.

Five easy exercises.

Take the heat with Aussie on Bonfire Night

25 Nov

Brrrr Bonfire Night seems like it was forever ago doesn’t it?! I could certainly do with a fire today it’s f-f-f-f-f-freezing!! Anywhoo…back to the point! A couple of weeks ago, the uber lovely folk at Aussie brought all of their Southern Angels together to celebrate Bonfire Night and the launch of the new Take The Heat range. The heat protection range is great for pretty much everyone, I’m sure we’re all guilty of crimes against hair using GHDs, hairdryers and tongs among various other torture devices. Since I’ve had my fringe cut, straightening is now a daily chore for me. As my hair’s been dyed pretty much every colour under the sun this year, it’s also prone to drying out with everything I put it through! Well worth checking out for it’s moisturising and heat protection qualities.

The invitation was quite cryptic, the dress code was ‘VIP glam’ and we were told to heat style our hair as the best hair on the night wins a special prize. I decided to be a little different and curl my hair but keep my fringe straight. I was supposed to demonstrate the contrast between straight and curly (what a concept!) but unfortunately November showers  meant my hair was more wavy/messy rather than tumbling curls.

Dress – vintage, tights – New Look, shoes – Aldo

To celebrate Bonfire Night and the new range, the Angels were taken on the London Eye to take in all the fireworks. I’ve been on the eye before but WOW…it’s amazing when you can see fireworks going off all around you! I was in awe, London is such a big, beautiful city. I take it for granted most of the time but it’s such an inspiring place to be. After a couple of trips around the eye, we were whisked off in two giant Hummer limos to a bar in Covent Garden.  What a dream night!

Aussie Colour Mate party

25 Aug

A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to the Aussie Colour Mate party, and was literally counting down the weeks, days and minutes til it kicked off. Wondering what the heck a Colour Mate party is? Well, all of my fellow Aussie angels have been split into hair tribes and as someone who frequently abuses their hair with all sorts of dyes and colourants, the Colour Mate tribe seemed like a natural fit for me. The guys at Aussie have arranged parties for all the tribes to meet up and learn how to look after our hair. We were asked to dress up as our hair colour idol, I had so many! I was tempted to go as Leigh Lezark from The Misshapes, Rihanna and Katy Perry. I decided (on the day) that Katy would be the most fun to dress up as, even if she cheats and wears wigs rather than dying her hair blue and purple.

Me as Katy Perry, Tor as the Gaga

We had oodles of coloured cocktails to carry on the colour theme and super stylists Amber and Zara showed us how to make the most of our locks without heat styling. We even had the most amazing Lady Gaga and Beyonce impersonators ever! We also had a little mini hair makeovers which are always fab. I had a plait which went over one shoulder and some loose curls. It was lovely to catch up with fellow bloggers Tor from Fab Frocks, Kristabel from I Want You To Know, Maria from Mediacation, Christina from A Sense Sublime and Lucy from Snippets of Shiny Thoughts

Yummy hair spotting at Lovebox

2 Aug

As an Aussie Angel, sometimes you get called upon with a mission. Never one to shy away from a challenge (or dare), I accepted without a second thought. What was the challenge? Yummy hair spotting along with my fellow angels, Fiona from Save Our Shoes and Sherin from Hi Fashion.

The concept behind the mission is to bring happiness and smiles in the form of hair compliments. After all, every girl loves being told she’s having a good hair day! Good hair spotting is rather hard, I was very picky and only wanted to pick the very best for Aussie. Here are the gorgeous girls I snapped:

Coloured hair lovelies

Amazing hair accessories

Beautiful retro style

Of course, being a festival there were also some very well dressed people there! I spotted tons of people in high waisted Levis cut offs, florals, gladiator sandals.

Love the lace shorts under the cut offs
Amazing fold over boots!
Gorgeous tutu
The most gorgeous girl, love her fitted maxi
Love this floaty dress and much respect for managing in heels
