Hide n Seek!

24 Aug

Quick little competition for you lovelies! Tickets to Paris are a very tough act to follow (see my Paris giveaway) buttt, the lucky winner of this competition gets to spend an evening shopping with moi, but it closes in 36 hours so get your skates on!

Somewhere inside my online environment (blog, facebook and twitter) there is a hidden Ford Ka. Now, once you have found the hidden Ford Ka, comment on this post telling me it’s whereabouts and answer the following questions:

‘If you had the Ford Ka for a weekend, where would you go and why?’

The winner gets to accompany me to a real life treasure hunt at the Bankside JoY store, where we will hunt for miniature Ford Kas to redeem against £60 worth of vouchers for the store. The real life treasure hunt will take place next Thursday – 3rd September.

Good luck!!

Win a little break to Paris!!

22 Aug

The fantastic team who whisked myself and some fellow bloggers to Paris have given me 2 Eurostar tickets to giveaway! How exciting, this is my first giveaway ever and what a fabulous prize! Ok so you want to know how to enter, right? Just answer the following question, either by commenting on this post or writing you own blogpost. And the question is…

“What would you do on your little break to Paris, if money were no object?”

My answer would involve champagne, a helicopter ride over Paris, beaucoup de shopping and a private tour of the Eiffel Tower at sunset, but I’m sure you have much better ideas so get thinking! The competition ends on 2nd September, with the overall winner announced on the 9th September.

Blind Date!

18 Aug

So…I kinda know this photographer who asked a favour of me. He works at Asiana magazine and they have this double page blind date spread, would I be interested in being in it? Snap decision was made, day off was booked and the date occurred yesterday. Not your average blind date though, there was a make up artist (good) and stupid photographer who wanted all these cheesy posed photos (bad)! Just kidding S, the photos were actually quite fun, I hope they turn out well.

The date was actually late (clearly doesn’t know who I am!!!) so I sat with S and he was fascinated by my jewellery and shoes. Unfortunately he only captured my rings and a little arm candy, not all of it though. His picture of my shoes, which S branded ‘stripper shoes’, absolutely sucked so I took my own when I got home. No way are they stripper shoes! Unfortunately no pics of my complete outfit, will ask S very kindly if he could send a couple. Went for a bright red Primarni dress. Oh…and I will be in the September issue if you want to read all about it properly 🙂

Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring/Summer ’10

16 Aug

There were some fantastic shows for Copenhagen Fashion Week S/S 2010, it was extremely hard to pick my favourites! The looks that captured my attention were total opposites, I loved looks that were slouchy and easy to wear but I was also drawn to super sexy/short/sheer dresses. My favourites were Noir, the veiled faces were very intriguing and mysterious and the clothing was beautifully floaty with a hint of Rodarte. I also loved Karen by Simonsen, the just-chuck-it-on vibe. Check out the shoulders on the black jacket!

What did you think of Copenhagen Fashion Week? Favourite Collection?

Au Natural

For…well forever, the fashion industry and magazines have been heavily criticised for overly photoshopping pictures.I’m often shoving Lancome/Estee Lauder adverts at my friends, exclaiming ‘Look! She has no pores!’. And it was only last week that I put up pictures of Gisele with her baby bump airbrushed out, oh and don’t get me started on the state of Madonna’s face in the new Louis Vuitton advert! Thankfully, it seems like someone is trying to buck the photoshopped to death trend. Peter Lindbergh has adopted an almost no makeup/no retouching aesthetic which is welcome and very refreshing. These images are from Harper’s Bazaar, September issue.

Make way for Anna

LFW is looking to be a very busy affair. Anna Wintour is attending, it’s the first time she is gracing the London shows with her presence since 2007. It was kinda inevitable seeing as Burberry Prorsum, Jonathan Saunders, Matthew Williamson, Pringle of Scotland, and others are returning to show in London after seasons showing elsewhere. It’s rumoured that a lot of US stars are making a trip to London during fashion week, with most of them making a beeline for the Topshop show.

Linda for Gaultier, let down?

When I think of Galliano, I think of drama. I love that his campaigns have the same red frame, eye catching. For his Fall 09 campaign, Linda Evangelista was the model of choice, seemed promising. But to me, it’s pretty boring..and just blah. But hey, I might just be a tough critic, what do you think?

Wow, Angie is looking fierce again. Those floaty chiffon dresses she’s been sporting over the last couple of years are nice enough but she’s killing it in this leather Michael Kors dress.

In brief:

Teeny Vogue: The September issue of US Vogue is the super svelte, at a mere 584 pages.

Model Idol:In case you’ve been living under a rock, Simon Fuller (American Idol) has bought a majority stake in Storm Models, agency of Kate Moss, Lily Cole & Jourdan Dunn among others.

Sessilee 4 Tyra:Sessilee Lopez is eyeing Tyra’s Model/Mogul crown, she wants to follow in her idol’s footsteps.

Hayden P rocking Elizabeth & James

9 Aug

Hollywood starlets are always under the spotlight for the style, or lack of. We’ve all made terrible, and sometimes hideous, wardrobe choices but thankfully without the glare of the media. I’ve always thought of Hayden Panettiere as ‘the pretty girl with the impossible surname’ until I saw this pic of her in this Elizabeth & James bell sleeved dress. Such a gorgeous outfit, love it with the boots and purple clutch! Her style stock is most definitely on the rise!

OMG….Rodarte for Target!!

Wow! As beautifully covetable as Rodarte dresses are, they’re more works of art than commercial Target clothing fit for mere mortals. But apparently the deal is done, Rodarte for Target is hitting stores 20th December-6th February and prices will range from $9.99-$79.99. A Target spokesman had this to say: “What you’ll notice is an amazing eye for detail. It’s very feminine, yet very modern. The collection incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur. The key with Rodarte is layering.” *Note to self, book flights to America, ASAP!*

Sneak peak of the new issue of Love, courtesy of Vogue. As with the first issue, it looks as if this is from an editorial rather than the cover. Interesting nonetheless, the theme seems to be ‘New Blood: The Young & The Restless’. The Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus are said to be in the issue.

Lanvin Fall 09 Campaign

Kristen McMenamy shot my Meisel. Striking, not least because of the cats!

Riccardo Tisci’s Greatest Hits

Tisci’s Redux collection, which was launched in June, was a capsule collection of his ‘greatest hits’. This is set to be a regular collection rather than a one off, with two collections a year. The first is going on sale in October, focusing in studs. Prices start at a mere $350…bargain!

Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List 2009

Michelle Obama, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Sheikha Mozah of Qatar, Penelope Cruz, Princess Lerizia of Asturias, Kelly Ripa, Kathy Freston, Agnes Gund, Anne Hathaway, Alicia Keys, Chiara Clemente, Lizzie Tisch, Brad Pitt and Barak Obama make the top 15. Royalty, politicians, New Yorkers and a smattering of celebrities.

In brief:

Prada postponed: Prada has an extension until 2012 to pay back its $450m loan, relieving pressure to sell a stake in the iconic brand.

Wang online: Alexander Wang’s online store launched today, as he “love[s] the idea of shopping in bed.”

Copenhagen: Copenhagen Fashion Week has officially kicked off. My round up is coming soon!
